Prof. Jo has been working in communication networking and software engineering areas for over 10 years all in research and development capacity. At California State University , Sacramento (CSUS), she has been teaching Computer Networks and Software System Engineering courses. Her expertise includes network security, Internet traffic management, and real-time embedded software.

Before joining CSUS, she was a Member of Technical Staff at Lucent Technologies in Holmdel , New Jersey , where she developed control software/firmware for optical networking equipment. She was a software engineer at Coree Networks in New Jersey , a start-up company developing an ultra-fast packet switch operating at 40 Tera-bps. She has also taken various research projects including, algorithms for defeating Denial-of-Service attacks, SPAM-free email system, Internet packet reordering and TCP performance analysis, and robotic workcell control software, etc.

Prof. Jo has served as a committee member in IEEE IRI 2004 (Int'l Conf. on Information Reuse and Integration) and 5th ACIS SNPD 2004 (Int'l Conf. on Software Engineering, Networking and Parallel/Distributed computing), and a session chair in 15th IEEE ICTAI 2004 (Int'l Conf. on Tools with Artificial Intelligence). She is appointed as an adjunct research associate at the Center for Cybersecurity Research at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas for network security research.

She received her doctorate degree in Computer Science from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH.
